Climate change acts as a multiplier of socioeconomic inequalities affecting the most vulnerable through the resulting climate crises. Including an ecosocial approach to social work and the potential need for eco-social interventions after the effects of a devastating climate change event can provide valuable insights for social workers on an environmental crisis which affects the communities and populations they serve. By understanding the impacts that climate change events can have on the environment and the resulting disrupted social effects of flooding, droughts and hurricanes, social workers will be better equipped to understand the unique social needs of their communities.
